Throwback Tuesdays - From Craogh Patrick to connemara champion

 Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a fantastic week. Welcome back to another episode of Throwback Tuesdays, where we reminisce about some of our favorite moments and memories as a team.

From Croagh Patrick to Connemara Champion

The journey of our beloved mare, ‘Casilin Citi,’ is a story filled with passion, dedication, and teamwork, beginning on the majestic slopes of Croagh Patrick and culminating in her crowning as a Connemara pony champion.

Citi's early years were spent amid the breathtaking landscapes of Mayo, where she roamed freely and developed her spirited nature. It was here, in the shadow of the iconic mountain, that she forged her strength and character, traits that would serve her well in the competitive world of equestrian sports.

In 2017, we had the wonderful opportunity to welcome Citi into our family after purchasing her from a kind gentleman who recognized her potential. At that time, Tara, with her extensive experience in breeding draught and warmblood-types, saw something special in this young mare. She took it upon herself to introduce Citi to the nuances of training, nurturing her talent and preparing her for new challenges ahead.

When Penny joined the picture, Citi entered a new phase of her journey. Under Penny’s guidance, she experienced her first full season on the Irish circuit. The growth they achieved together laid a solid foundation, allowing Citi to gain the confidence and skills she would need for greater feats.

Fast-forward to 2022, when Charlotte stepped in, taking the reins of this remarkable mare. With her keen eye for detail and unwavering resolve to succeed, Charlotte began to develop an incredible partnership with Citi. The pair quickly became a force to be reckoned with, working tirelessly as they prepared for the highly esteemed Balmoral Show in 2023.

The excitement that filled the air as they entered the arena was electric. Charlotte and Citi showcased a seamless performance, dancing elegantly before the judges and spectators. Their commitment to precision and natural talent shone through, earning them the title of U16 Connemara Pony winner—a monumental achievement that celebrated not only their hard work but also the dedication of our entire team.

This achievement was more than just a trophy; it was a testament to the journey we had all taken together. From the untamed hills of Croagh Patrick to the spotlight of the championship ring, Citi's story is one of growth, teamwork, and triumph. Each member of our team played a crucial role in her development, and this victory reinforced our bond and passion for the Connemara breed.

As we reflect on this incredible journey, we are filled with gratitude for the experiences we’ve shared and the countless memories we will continue to create together. From Croagh Patrick to champion, Citi’s journey is a shining example of what dedication and teamwork can accomplish. Here’s to future adventures with our fabulous Connemara mare!

  Penny's commonly used phrase, "Listen to them, they won't speak, they'll show," is more than just a catchy phrase; it's the cornerstone of her approach to animal care, particularly evident in her interactions with horses. Throwback Tuesdays : Dalibhunga Mandella, 11 years on the team

  Welcome to another Throwback Tuesday! Over the last month or two, we've seen Penny make a spectacular comeback in the jumping arena after a three-year hiatus, and it's sparked countless questions about the origins of her jumping journey. Today, we take a delightful detour down memory lane to revisit the legendary 'Dalibhunga Mandella,' a true icon in the world of showing and working hunter.  It was eleven years ago when a seven-year-old Penny first met Mandella, who was then on loan from the Nugent family. This incredible pony had been under their care since he was just a foal, and his journey had been nothing short of remarkable. At the time, Penny had been riding a different pony for a few months, but unfortunately, that experience had left her feeling somewhat disheartened.
