Throwback Tuesday - 'But sure hes red!'

We received an overwhelming number of messages after missing last week’s episode of the Tuesday Throwbacks—let’s just say you all really missed us! But fear not, we are back and ready to dive into another exciting episode! One of the highlights of our year in 2023 occurred in August when Penny embarked on an adventure to purchase a feral Connemara pony from the bogs of Offaly. Now, one might expect that she would bring home a spirited grey pony, typical of the breed, but to everyone’s surprise, she came home with a timid chestnut Connemara she named Moo with ‘MOVER’ as a show name. The initial reactions from our friends were priceless—“But sure he’s red!” they exclaimed, scratching their heads in disbelief as they met Moo for the first time. This unexpected twist led us on an intriguing quest to uncover the reasons behind Moo's distinctive, rich chestnut coat. Upon researching his lineage, we discovered that Moo is sired by “Inis Bui,” a stunning Dun, and his dam is “Fancy Mover,...

Throwback Tuesdays - From Craogh Patrick to connemara champion

Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a fantastic week. Welcome back to another episode of Throwback Tuesdays, where we reminisce about some of our favorite moments and memories as a team. From Croagh Patrick to Connemara Champion The journey of our beloved mare, ‘Casilin Citi,’ is a story filled with passion, dedication, and teamwork, beginning on the majestic slopes of Croagh Patrick and culminating in her crowning as a Connemara pony champion. Citi's early years were spent amid the breathtaking landscapes of Mayo, where she roamed freely and developed her spirited nature. It was here, in the shadow of the iconic mountain, that she forged her strength and character, traits that would serve her well in the competitive world of equestrian sports. In 2017, we had the wonderful opportunity to welcome Citi into our family after purchasing her from a kind gentleman who recognized her potential. At that time, Tara, with her extensive experience in breeding draught and warmblood-t...

Throwback Tuesdays - Penny and Dreamer Hickstead 2022

Hello everyone! Today marks the start of our Throwback Tuesday series, where we'll be sharing some of our favorite memories and moments as a team. One standout memory that we hold dear is our first visit to the Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead back in 2022. It all began when Penny took on the challenge of re-schooling Dreamer, a horse she acquired from a field in Galway in 2020. Born in 2002, Dreamer's journey was not an easy one, especially considering he was an older horse. Through Penny's perseverance and hard work, they formed an incredible bond and began their competitive journey together. The pivotal moment came at the Irish Pony Society Spring Show in 2022, where Penny and Dreamer competed in the R.I. qualifier for the small colored plaited pony. On their very first attempt, they secured their qualification, sparking a flurry of excitement and preparation for the big stage at Hickstead. In July of that year, Penny and ‘Dunbeggan Dreamer’ set foot in Hick...
