Results 2025 : Northern Ireland Festival



A Triumphant Saturday at the Northern Ireland Festival!


Saturday dawned early, a 4 am start setting the stage for an easy day at the Northern Ireland Festival in the prestigious Cavan Equestrian Center. With a limited team on board of only one horse, we were more than ready and relaxed for the day ahead.


The day began with a thrilling opportunity for Penny Hudson Kelly. Offered the ride of Katie Crozier's magnificent 'DARROWBY COUGAR' in the main ring's Novice Intermediate Championship, Penny rose to the challenge with remarkable poise. She quickly and expertly adapted to her new mount, demonstrating a natural horsemanship that was truly inspiring. Her ride was nothing short of impressive, culminating in a well-deserved Reserve Champion title in this competitive class. Witnessing Penny's talent shine through, even on a new partnership, filled us with immense pride.


The successes continued with Charlotte Kelly and the stunning 'HUDSONS MUCARELLI ROSA'. In the Novice 153 Show Hunter Ponies class, against seasoned competitors who had graced countless show rings, Charlotte and Rosa delivered an absolutely brilliant performance. To stand a remarkable second place in such a strong field, with Rosa being a true novice pony at only her fifth show, is an achievement we are incredibly proud of. Rosa went beautifully, showcasing her immense potential, and Charlotte's riding was beautiful, very proud of how both these two girls handled the atmosphere.


We are beyond thrilled with how the day unfolded. The way 'Rosa' performed, the beauty and precision of Charlotte's ride, and the sheer talent displayed by Penny – it was a truly special day. A massive congratulations again to Penny, whose ability to connect with any horse and deliver such impressive results is simply remarkable and fills us with immense pride. This festival was a fantastic showcase of the dedication, talent, and heart of our team, and we couldn't be happier with the results!

Over the last month or two, we've seen Penny make a spectacular comeback in the jumping arena after a three-year hiatus, and it's sparked countless questions about the origins of her jumping journey. Today, we take a delightful detour down memory lane to revisit the legendary 'Dalibhunga Mandella,' a true icon in the world of showing and working hunter.  It was eleven years ago when a seven-year-old Penny first met Mandella, who was then on loan from the Nugent family. This incredible pony had been under their care since he was just a foal, and his journey had been nothing short of remarkable.
